....for a Big Mac if McDonald's had to increase the mimimum wage for their employees? Fast-food workers want to make a "living wage" of $15/hour. People working these fast food joints in NYC make about $11,000 a year, while the CEOs at these companies make $25,000 a day!
They found out McDonald's could double all of its' workers pay and benefits--including the CEOs and the cost of a Big Mac would only go up by 68 cents. The Dollar Menu would go up the $1.17.
There also been some work done that said if Wal-Mart raised prices on everything in the store by 1% they could take all their workers off welfare eligibility....1%. Willing to pay that? It does raise the question of whether we'd rather pay an extra 1% for that bookshelf or clothing, or pay for Wal-Mart's payroll with our taxes.
Think about that one.
