THE RISE OF THE JIM REITH SHOW
Jim’s genius mind was formed at C.W Baker high school in Baldwinsville, graduating in 1976. Jim was clearly the head of his class even if the numbers don’t bear that out.

Jim went on to serve 5 years in the United States Navy, which provided Jim the opportunity to sample food from all over the world.

When Jim returned from the service, he attended Onondaga County Community College, graduating with honors from the renowned Radio and Television Program.

While at OCC, the bigwigs at WSYR noticed the bright young star in their midst and snatched him up to be part of the best news room in Central New York.

After 15 years of being lied to by politicians, dealing with criminals and the occasional pointless feature story as a reporter, Jim just couldn’t take it anymore.

And…on December 15, 1999...The juggernaut known as The Jim Reith Show was born, and Central New York has never been the same.

Jim currently lives in Syracuse with his wife and two children.

From The Mind of a Genius

My apologies for not updating the blog as often as I should; I shall try to be much better...

One of the things I pride myself in doing is always remembering with gratitude those who came before me locally in the radio business. I owe a lot to people like Don Dauer, Rick Gary, Phil Markert and a host of others who paved the way for the rest of us. Like Jim Lowery, who was one of those people too. Jim was one of the co-founders of WSEN radio, and I grew up in the neighborhood where he lived. I remember thnking how cool it was that Mr. Lowery was on the radio, and owned a radio station. He also called high school football games for years and years. I remember him always being nice and friendly in the neighborhood, and obviously he is one of the people that has made it possible for a lot of us to do the job we love. Jim was 84 years old and my condolences go to his family, especially his son Jimmy who played a lot of pickup football games with us as kids. Enjoy the dance party video...Mark Knoffler...Border Reiver...

The GREAT New York State Fair
Tuesday 09-07-2010 12:51pm ET

From The Mind of a Genius

Another incredible edition of the New York State Fair is in the books, and it came close to a record for attendance. The Fair drew just shy of a million people, the weather was perfect, the concerts at both the Grandstand and Chevy Court were fantastic, and the complaints from people fall decidedly into the nitpicking category. The International Building has been completely redone inside and even a small fire there couldn't put a damper on things. Two new courtyards were added (more seating, more shade) and all in all, it was just another job incredibly well done by Dan O'Hara and crew.

Now for the bad news: The Fair Director's job has always been a political one, and the odds are that the new governor will pick a new Fair Director. That's a shame, because Dan O'Hara has done a wonderful job and he deserves to keep his position. This is New York State, however, and so of course politics trumps all. So despite great work by Dan, expect to see a new director in place next year.

And enjoy the Dance Party Video...John Legends new CD featuring the Roots is called WAKE UP..and features the Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes song of the same name.
