Syracuse already lost one center to injury when DaJuan Coleman underwent season-ending knee surgery a couple of weeks ago. They may have lost another one tonight against Clemson, with Baye Keita suffering a sprained right knee in the first half of the team's 57-44 win at the Carrier Dome.
His status for Wednesday's game at Pittsburgh (7 PM on ESPN) is uncertain and the Panthers are a nightmare opponent for the Orange to possibly face with only one true big man available. They outrebounded SU 35-24 in the previous meeting on January 18, with Talib Zanna grabbing 11 boards and no SU player collecting more than 6. If Keita can't go, Rakeem Christmas will have to stay out of foul trouble and Jerami Grant will likely see more time in the middle of the 2-3 zone as well.
An already dangerous match-up for the Cuse might have gotten even trickier with Keita's injury. There's a very real possibility that Pitt will hand Jim Boeheim's squad its first loss of the season a few nights from now.
