Syracuse, N.Y. - Southwest Airlines announcing that they will cease flying out of Syracuse Hancock Airport on August 4th.

This news was part of a larger announcement the airline made early this morning regarding a widespread reduction of service across its network. Southwest blamed Boeing citing aircraft delivery delays and lack of available capacity.

Southwest told the airport the Syracuse market was performing as expected for a new city but the constraints of this new environment lead them to pull the plug.
