Onondaga County Legislature Approves The $85 Million Dollar Aquarium

Syracuse, N.Y. - In a contentious meeting of the Onondaga County Legislator, the 85 million dollars to build an Aquarium has been approved. After just a 30 minute public comment period, the Legislature voted 9 - 8 to go ahead with County Executive Ryan McMahon's pet project.

Some during the public comment period addressed Democratic County Legislator Charles Garland, who cut a deal with County Executive McMahon to get a housing development in his district in exchange for a YES vote.

McMahon wants to build the aquarium in the Inner Harbor. The County will own the site, but a contractor will be brought in to run it, similar to the Lakeview Amphitheatre.
