DOT Says I81 Project Will Take Longer, But No Roundabout By Dr. King School

Syracuse, N.Y. - New York State Department Of Transportation, gave a briefing today in Syracuse about the I 81 project.

They announced that the final Environmental Impact Study has been submitted to the Federal Government. In that study the cost of the project has gone up, from 2 billion to 2.5 billion.

They also said it will take longer than expected, with the construction period being expanded from five to six years.

They announced that after concerns raised by the community, the roundabout that was to be placed near Dr. King Elementary school will be moved to the Van Buren Street area.

The DOT said they would open a Construction Outreach Center in the City to answer questions and provide information throughout the project.
