Syracuse Water Dept. Working To Repair Broken Pipe, Schools Close Early

Syracuse, N.Y. - The City of Syracuse Department of Water is working to repair water main break.

The 12” water pipe broke on South Beech Street between East Washington Street and East Fayette Street.

The break is impacting water service to residences and commercial properties in parts of Eastwood, Sedgwick, Lincoln Hill, Northside, Court-Woodlawn, and Washington Square. Low water pressure is expected in these areas until early evening while the water main is repaired.

A number of schools in that area closed early today due to the water pressure issue. Grant Middle School, Lincoln Middle School, Salem Hyde Elementary School, Webster Elementary School, and Henninger High School all dismissed around 10:30 this morning.

Traffic is reduced to one lane on that block of South Beech Street while crews work to repair the break.

Residents in need of emergency water services can call 211
