Onondaga County Hits Record High Number Of COVID Cases

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County officials today confirmed 99 new cases of coronavirus since Thursday, a new record.

The previous record, set just two days ago, was 70.

County Executive Ryan McMahon said the community must act to reduce the spread of the virus or the state will shut down businesses.

He urged local residents to avoid large gatherings, wear face masks and stay home if sick.

Public officials say nightlife and other social gatherings are playing a key role in spreading the virus.

McMahon is sending extra inspectors out into bars this weekend looking for any violations
