Feds Want The Town Of Dewitt To Do More Regarding Deer

Town of Dewitt, N.Y. - The federal government wants the town of Dewitt to do more with their deer management program, but the town isn't really interested right now.

The Department of Agriculture reports that the first two years of the town's deer management program yielded nearly 200 deer, with a huge increase in deer taken in 2019 over the year before. Even with such good results, the feds want the town to do live deer trapping for this winter.

But town supervisor Ed Michaelenko says they aren't interested in that now. He feels like the current program needs to operate for a number of years before it can be considered effective.
