Judge Approves Settlement At Former James Square

Syracuse, N.Y. - Class action settlement against former James Square facility has been settled.

Onondaga County Supreme Court Judge Anthony Paris approved a settlement between the class action plaintiffs and the current owner of the former James Square Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, now renamed Bishop Health. 

The judge  approved the settlement over the summer allowing others to join the suit. 

Nearly all of the 532 patients invited opted in. 

Payout is based on days under the care of the current owners, with the average being  about $560. 

A court will now oversee the the operation at the facility. 

The bigger case against the former owners is still ongoing.
