More Blue-Green Algae Concerns On Skaneateles Lake

Skaneateles, N.Y. - There is more Blue-Green Algae concerns on Skaneateles Lake.

The Lourdes Camp is closing after an algae bloom was spotted in Skaneatles Lake. In a statement on their website, officials say they are working with the Onondaga County Health Department and are shutting down because they draw their drinking water directly from the Lake.

Lourdes Camp is currently closed for the week due to algae bloom.

We were working in conjunction with the Onondaga Health Department where as of this morning several blue green algae blooms were found along the waterfront. Unfortunately we not only use Skaneateles Lake for recreation but it is also our main water supply. While this is a hard decision the safety of our campers and staff is our first priority. Parents who have campers enrolled in camp for Week 7 should pick them up at the earliest convenience.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

They will be giving a refund for those that had come to camp this week.
