Syracuse Police Arrest Woman In Forcible Purse Snatching

Syracuse police make a quick arrest of a woman who forcibly stole the wallet of another woman who was a passenger in the car driven by the suspect.

Officers sent to Erie Boulevard West at about 5:30 learned that Wilanda Newsome of Syracuse had taken the victim's wallet during a verbal altercation.  The suspect stopped the car, pulled the victim out and struck her before leaving with the victim's wallet.  Officers went to Newsome's residence where they found the victim's wallet.  Newsome was charged with robbery, grand larceny, and harassment.  She's in custody pending arraignment.
