Sheriff David Gould reports that on June 11, 2018 at approximately 4:46 PM the Cayuga County E-911 Center dispatched Cayuga County Sheriff’s Patrols to a motor vehicle accident on Shepherd Road in the Town of Brutus. The investigation into that accident revealed that Kayla Cox, 19, of East Brutus Street Road in the Town of Brutus was operating a 2008 Dodge Dakota pickup southbound on Shepherd Road when she left the east side of the roadway and struck several trees. Cox was the sole occupant of the vehicle and there is no indication that any other vehicle was involved in the accident. Kayla Cox was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the accident. The investigation into crash is ongoing.
