Syracuse, N.Y. - Tensions are rising again between the Onondaga County Executive and the Legislative Chairman.
The latest debate centers on bringing in outside legal council for the County Legislature. County Executive Joanie Mahoney has vetoed, twice, an amendment that would allow the chairman to bring in outside legal council if there is a conflict of interest with the County's own Lawyers.
Mahoney says the law consolidates too much power into the hands of the chairman and creates redundant services. McMahon says this is how it has always been done, and is simply trying to make practice law.
The legislature could override the veto; however that could force a voter referendum.
