Conflict At J-D Middle School Leads To Weapons Threat

Jamesville, N.Y. - A Jamesville-DeWitt Middle School student is being disciplined for threatening to bring a gun to school.

Administrators sent an e-mail to parents saying that at the end of the school day Thursday two students were arguing with each other when one threatened to bring a weapon to school. Administrators say they met with the children and the child that made the threat has been disciplined.

They also say that they have notified police, though no students or staff were ever in any danger.

Just prior to dismissal today (March 1) there was an incident between two students that ended with one of the students threatening to bring a weapon to school.  The administrative team at the middle school immediately met with all students that were involved and that witnessed the interaction.

A student was disciplined for making the statement regarding the weapon as dictated by our code of conduct. Police were also notified.  At no time were any students or staff in danger.  Safety and security are the most important aspect of what we do every day.  Diligence and communication ensure the safety of the students and staff in our building. We appreciate the communication that occurred today that helped us maintain the safety of our school.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow, weather permitting.

Sincerely,Andy EldridgePrincipal
