State Police in Auburn are investigating the death of an inmate at the Auburn Prison. 51 year old Daniel Wingate was assaulted inside the prison and he later died from his injuries. Wingate was taken off life support over the weekend.
Wingate was behind bars on a sexual abuse charge, but was due to be released from prison in September. No one has been charged in Wingate's death, but State Police are conducting a series of interviews inside the prison. Autopsy results should take about two weeks to complete.
