Syracuse Police Investigating Two Shootings

On Thursday July 6th, 2017 at approximately 9:17 PM, Syracuse Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Oakwood Avenue.  Upon arrival, Officers located a male who was suffering from a gunshot wound to his right leg.  The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital by AMR Ambulance personnel for treatment.  The victim’s injury does not appear to be life threatening.  The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a white sweatshirt and dark jeans.  He left the area on foot towards E. Kennedy Street.

At approximately 10:34 PM, Syracuse Police Officers were dispatched to the area of E. Bissell Street and South Avenue in regards to several reports of shots being fired in the area.  Citizens also reported hearing vehicles leave the area after the shots were heard.  While investigating this incident, Officers were advised that a female had arrived at Upstate University Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to her leg.  She was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle.  Her injury does not appear to be life threatening at this time.  The suspect was described as a black male, wearing a white T-shirt.  No additional description is available at this time.

At this time, there is no indication that these incidents are related.
