Syracuse, N.Y. – Syracuse's Mayoral hopefuls gathered last night to discuss the issues and their vision for the City. Much of the discussion centered on the Syracuse Police Department.
Democratic Mayoral Designate Joe Nicoletti called for a return to community policing, while Independent Ben Walsh made calls for improved policing through improved technologies.
Some of the Democrat Mayoral candidates including City Auditor Marty Masterpole and Raymond Blackwell shared sentiments that there are more prudent was to deal with policing in the long-term than throwing money at the issue.
Republican Mayoral Designate Laura Lavine noted that there needs to be relationship building between the Police Department and the community it serves.
The nine candidates running gathered for a forum last night at the South West Community Center.
