Several Hour Standoff Ends on Syracuse's Westside

Syracuse, N.Y. –  The Syracuse Police SWAT Team was deployed to an armed four hour standoff yesterday on Syracuse’s West Side.

It began for Syracuse Police as a call for a fight at 4:18 p.m. Thursday between a group of men at Milton and Willis Avenues. Witnesses told police one of the men appeared to have pulled out a gun in the fight.

A short time later, officers spotted the men on North Geddes Street near 690 and when officers went to question the three men they ran into a nearby residence.

SWAT and the Hostage Negotiation team arrived at the site of the standoff which lasted for several hours before the men gave up and were arrested without any further incident.

Syracuse Police have not released the names of the three men arrested.
