62 year old Thomas Paculis of Newfield pleaded guilty last Friday to charges that he tried to extort $200,000 from the celebrity chef by threatening to reveal damaging information about her. Paculis was released on his own recognizance after appearing in a Savannah courtroom on Monday. Bail was set at 10-thousand dollars. Paculis could spend up to two years in federal prison and pay a maximum fine of $250,000.
A lawsuit filed against Deen by a white employee has been thrown out. The former manager at Deen's restaurant charged Deen's brother with sexual harrassment and with racial discrimination against black restaurant employees. Deen admitted using the n-word in the past.
