A couple of Syracuse woman are now in jail after trying to scam a local a local Wal- Mart store.
Police say the incident occurred at the Wal- Mart store in New Hartford. Latonya Crawford and Bernisha Scott of Syracuse were detained by store officials after they were allegedly caught in a bar code scam at the self check- out counter.
The pair is now accused of removing bar codes from cheap items and then placing those bar codes in items that are much more expensive.
They tried to check themselves out at a self serve register but they were caught by store officials and detained until the police arrived.
When all was said and done, police say Scott and Crawford tried to pay just sixty dollars for more than 800 dollars worth of merchandise.
Both have now been charged Petit Larceny, Possession of Burglars Tools and a felony count of Falsifying Business Records in the First Degree.
Scott and Crawford are now being held in the Oneida County Jail.
