Syracuse police arrested four occupants in a stolen car after it crashed after a short pursuit by officers.
Officers say they were on patrol when they spotted a Saab on Partk Street that they knew had been recently reported stolen. After stopping the vehicle, it sped off to elude police. The officers initially gave chase, but abandoned the attempt due to poor conditions and reckless driving of the stolen vehicle. After a short search, they located the vehicle, which crashed on Spencer Street.
All four occupants inside were taken into custody without incident. Arrested were the driver, 27-year-old Daniel Carroll, and passengers 17-year-old Malik Richardson, 27-year-old Djaquinn Johnson, and 21-year-old Belinda Florence, all of Syracuse.
The four were all charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Carroll was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property and a host of other charges. All four were to appear in city criminal court to answer their charges.
