A retired Syracuse firefighter has been arrested on child pornography charges.
In a brief statement from City Hall in Syracuse late Friday afternoon, the mayor's office say it's been informed by law enforcement of the arrest of retired firefighter Mark Raite.
Syracuse Police say Raite was arrested after a three month long investigation.
The 51 year old suspect lives on Boxford Road in Clay. He's been charged with the felonies of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child and Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child.
During the investigation, Syracuse Police say an undercover officer downloaded videos of child pornography from a computer at Raite's residence. As a result, members of Onondaga County's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, served a search warrant at his home on June 6th.
Police later conducted a forensic examination of computers owned by Raite, and discovered the videos and images.
Raite is now being held in the Justice Center and is being held on five thousand dollars bail.
