Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh is making a public appeal to the driver who fled the scene of a one-car crash in the Town of Clay that resulted in the death of a Phoenix man.
Sheriff Walsh says 42 year old Glenwood Carr of Baldwinsville, allegedly told witnesses that he's had DWI arrests in the past and was leaving the scene of the accident at Bonstead road near 481. Carr has not been seen since Sunday night.
Deputies say a 1998 Audi was traveling on Bonstead Road near the Route 481 overpass when the vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole, coming to rest on its roof. 40 year old Steven Sears of Phoenix was removed from the wreckage but was pronounced dead at the scene.
One witness told sheriff's deputies that if hadn't been for the utility pole, the Audi would have crashed into his vehicle, injuring or killing him. Deputies say Carr has served time in prison and that alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
