A big setback for a popular local food pantry in Syracuse that's forced them to close.
The food pantry at Assumption Church in Syracuse has been hit by copper thieves. They've been forced to close their doors after bandits ripped out copper and damaged the building, leaving exposed wiring behind.
City police believe the thieves broke in thru a window after they ripped out an air conditioning unit. The pantry has also lost it's phone service due to the damage. The thieves also stole a laptop computer and wireless phones from the pantry.
The pantry on the city's northside helps feed hundreds of Syracuse families each month and it may be closed for a few days while repairs are made.
