Syracuse police traffic section is investigating a three-car crash on Route 690 East that killed a Fabius man.
Officers say that an Audi driven by Paul Drake of East Syracuse was disabled on the right shoulder of 690 when Ryan Dearnaley stopped to help. The two were standing outside their vehicles when a Mercury Mountaineer driven by Daniel Wall of Syracuse slammed into the rear of Dearnley's Toyota and pushed it into the Audi. All three drivers were hospitalized for their injuries, but Dearnaley later died. The injuries to the other men are considered non-life threatening. No tickets have been issued at yet, and the crash remains under investigation.
