The food pantry at Assumption Church is temporarily out of business after thieves stripped copper and caused other damage.
Police say the thieves broke in over the weekend via a window that held a portable air-conditioning unit. Pantry officials say a cable box, wireless phones, a laptop, and two turkeys are missing in addition to copper wires and piping. The safety concerns with cut pipes and exposed wiring led the pantry to shut down while they arrange to repair the damage. But despite the pantry being closed, the church's soup kitchen reopens today.
